1) Seven Hills Motorcars is very proud to offer this beautiful numbers matching 1972 Corvette Stingray in excellent condition with only 31,260 original miles. This Stingray looks stunning, runs great, and drives awesome. It is finished in the stunning and highly desirable color combination of Elkhart Green (946) over Saddle Leather (421). This is the correct and original color scheme as verified by the codes on the trim tag. This Corvette is completely Numbers Matching with the last six digits of the VIN stamped on the engine pad, which is pictured below. The transmission is also original with the last six digits of the VIN stamped on the main case and pictured below. The very low mileage is verified as original not only by the condition of the car, but also the clear Ohio title, also pictured below, that shows the mileage as Actual. We have this car priced to sell and are offering an excellent opportunity to own a very rare and desirable Corvette at an unbeatable value. It is exceptionally hard to find a Corvette from this era with this low mileage. This example is also loaded with sought-after options like air conditioning, power steering, power brakes, tilt/telescopic steering column, and an automatic transmission. As a side note, this Corvette is not a dealer auction vehicle. We hand pick each car after careful inspection. Our Corvettes come from owners who expect their car to go to someone that will give the vehicle the same care and attention as they did. We invite and encourage you to examine the car in person or have the car inspected. model description: The 1972 Corvette was truly the end of an era. 1972 was the last year to feature chrome bumpers and the egg crate grill, it is considered to be the last year of truly classic Corvettes. Years after were more at the mercy of insurance companies, fuel prices, and emission concerns, 1972 is considered the last good year. It was also the last year to feature a pop out rear window, and the first year that the way horsepower ratings are measured changed from gross to the more accurate net. As in investment, the 1972 will always have an advantage and out perform other years because of its precedence as the end of a a very great period for Corvette and muscle cars as a whole. numbers: Please note when checking the numbers that not only do the correct stampings and casting numbers appear on the parts, but all of the dates are also chronologically correct. This means that all of the parts were made and assembled in the correct order. For example, all of the dates for the individual engine components and the engine casting date should obviously precede the assembly date of the engine because the parts had to be produced before they could be assembled. All of the parts I checked follow this rule and are dated correctly. Body Build Date L13: L corresponds to July, and the 13 is the thirteenth day of the month meaning this Corvette's body build date is July 13, 1972. Engine Code V0628: V means the engine was build in the Flint, MI plant. The 06 is the sixth month of year and the 28 is the twenty-eighth day of the month meaning the engine was assembled on June 28, 1972. This is correct as it precedes the build date of the car. Suffix Code CKX: This means the motor was intended for a 350ci 200hp Corvette with an automatic transmission, which is correct for this car. Engine VIN Stamping 526150: The last 6 digits of the car's VIN, 526150, are stamped on the engine pad and pictured below meaning this engine is original to this car. Engine Block Casting Number 3970010: The engine block has a correct 3790010 casting number a small block 1971 Corvette. Distributor 1112050: The band on the distributor has the correct 1112050 number for a 1972 Corvette. Distributor Date Code 2E10: The 2 is the last digit of the calendar year, the E denotes May and 10 is the tenth day of the month meaning the distributor was made on May 10, 1972. Intake manifold Casting Number 6263751: The intake has the correct 6263751 casting number, which is correct for a small block 1972 Corvette. Intake Manifold Block Casting Date F 20 2: F is June, 20 is the twentieth day of the month, and 2 is the last digit of the calendar year so this intake was cast on June 20, 1972. Carburetor: Please note that this car has a very rare and original Rochester Quadrajet produced by Carter. 7042202: The carburetor is correct and original for a 1972 Corvette with an automatic transmission and without California emissions with a 7042202 stamping, which is right for this car. The 70 is a code used on all Rochester carbs from 1965-1975. The third digit, 4, indicates it was made in the 1970 to 1975 production run. The fourth digit, 2, is the model year, 1972. The fifth digit, 2, indicates that it is a 4BBL Quadrajet carb. The sixth digit, 0, means is was built for the Chevrolet division of GM. The last digit, 2, means it was intended for use with an automatic transmission , which is correct for this car. Carburetor Date Code E2: The E is the fifth month of the year and the 2 is the last digit of the year so this carburetor was made in May of 1972. Exhaust Manifold Left 3932491: The left exhaust manifold has a 3932461 casting number, which is correct for a 1972 Corvette. Exhaust Manifold Right 3932461: The right exhaust manifold has a 3932461 casting number, which is correct for a 1972 Corvette. Transmission 72-CK: The 72 is the model year, 1972. The C means the transmission was made for a Chevrolet vehicle, and the K means is was intended for a 350ci Corvette, which is correct for this car. Transmission Date Code 540: The assembly date code for the 1972 model year starts with the first day of the calendar year in 1971 and continues through the calendar year in 1972. This means 540 is the 540th day starting with January 1, 1971, which indicates the transmission is dated June 23, 1972. Transmission VIN Stamping 526150: The last 6 digits of the car's VIN, 526150, are stamped on the main case of the transmission and pictured below meaning this transmission is original to this car. Driver's Window JY: The J is March and the Y is 1972 so this window is original, made in March of 1972. This is correct as it predates the build date of the car. Passenger Window GY: The G is April and the Y is 1972 so this window is original, made in April of 1972. This is correct as it predates the build date of the car. Rear Window GY: The G is April and the Y is 1972 so this window is original, made in April of 1972. This is correct as it predates the build date of the car. Most information obtained from Alan A. Colvin's Corvette by the Numbers and Mike Antonick's Corvette Black Book. conditionExterior: The Elkhart Green exterior is in spectacular driver condition. As one can see in the photos, the finish has dazzling gloss, deep shine, and smooth finish. Both doors open and shut nicely. The wheels and center caps are in excellent condition with a brilliant finish. Please note that this car has the correct and original 4-clip style beauty rings, not the cheap aftermarket replacements. The BF Goodrich Radial TA tires are almost new and correctly sized 225/70R15. The chrome and other bright looks great with no pitting or cloudiness. There are some marks on the top that are visible in the photos and a few very tiny blemishes around car that were too small to show up in pictures, but nothing else that is really noticeable from about five or ten feet away. The underside of this car is very clean. We have included specific photos of the areas on the car that are most prone to rust. We have seen no evidence of rust or corrosion around the key hole area on the frame or the birdcage area around the windshield, which are the most common spots for rust on C3 Corvettes. We have included many photos of the underside to show how nice it looks. Window Date Codes: Please note that almost all of the glass on this Corvette, both Astro Ventilation door windows and even the pop-out rear window, is date coded and original as each piece predates the car's body build date of July 13, 1972 (L13). Original glass is a good indication that this car has had no major accident history and never sustained significant damage. Interior: The Saddle interior in this Corvette is in wonderful condition. The seats are in excellent shape with no split seams or excessive wear. The carpet is also in great condition with no stains or holes. This includes the rear carpet, which is often neglected. The gauge faces are clean and crisp and the lenses are clear. The door panels also look like new with no splits and no cracking on the arm pad where the driver's elbow would sit. The door pulls are solid and intact. The dash and console look awesome with no sun fading, there is a small crack in the left speaker grill that is visible in the photos. The original radio is still with the car and gets good reception. Most importantly, the dash has never been cut or modified for an aftermarket installation. This Stingray has never been smoked in; there are no cigerette marks and no aroma of cigarettes. Mechanical: This Corvette seems to be in very good mechanical condition. It starts right away every time, idles smooth, and runs great. The car is an awesome driver that feels nice the road and at highway speeds. In the video below one can observe the car accelerating onto the highway up to about 70mph, shifting through all the gears, braking to stoplight, and going through some curves. Please note that there are no strange noises or vibrations and the car performs quite well overall. As one can observe in the video, the car initially goes into high idle as it should and after a couple of minutes it properly goes into normal low idle with when the gas pedal is pressed. The brakes are responsive and do not pull to one side or the other. The transmission shifts well throughout the power band. Also, the engine compartment is beautifully clean, detailed, and correct as one can see in the photos with the original air cleaner, valve covers, and upper ignition shielding. The wipers work as do the indicators, exterior lights, and interior lights. The blower for the heater and a/c works on all speeds. The entire vacuum system for the headlights and wiper door works correctly from both their respective switches on the dash and the override switches. They go up quickly, evenly, and with no binding in the mechanism. The entire operation of the vacuum system for both the headlights and wipers can be viewed in the video. All of the gauges work with the obvious exception of the clock. The horn and a/c do not work. The headlight doors will occasionally go up on their own while driving, but always go back down, which is a common circumstance on early C3 Corvettes. Not enough can be said as to how much of a pleasure it is to drive this car, especially with the T-Tops out on a beautiful day. Overall Condition: Overall, this 1972 Corvette looks fantastic. Low mileage cars from this era are exceptionally rare and draw a huge premium in the current market. Also, we have found Elkhart Green over Saddle to be one of the most attractive and most desirable color combinations. Numbers matching is extremely important in Corvette pricing and as one can see, this car is quite correct. There are photos below of the VIN stamp on the engine block, suffix code, engine assembly date, transmission date, and transmission VIN stamp. There is a key for the ignition and no key for the doors. We can provide a door key for the new owner for an additional $200. In my opinion and based on our experience the Chrome Bumper cars from 1968-1972 are the most collectible and hottest in the entire Corvette market right now. The value of these cars has gone up exponentially in recent years. They are all solid investments for a collector. One could easily enjoy this vehicle for several years and sell it for more than the purchase price with minimal effort. 31,255 miles from the odometer. BiN $27,900 (Ended) on May 30, 2018. |
